That's A Fabulous Handbag

The Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 handbags should be released later this month, and while I am looking forward to some of them, I'm not that enthused about the 'my deer' bags. Don't get me wrong, these are nice little bags for an evening out, or a casual cocktail party, my problem is more with the price point rather than the bags themselves. I get that they are part of the runway collection, always more expensive, but when a bag is in the three grand price range I expect either exotic material or a large, roomy bag with noticeable detail. The 'my deer' bags are simple embossed leather with a bit of gold hardware.

Here is a little taste of what's to come from the Marc Jacobs fall 2009 handbag collection. I thought I would follow up after the last post, in case some of you Marc Jacobs fans were feeling a bit depressed.

I'm very pleased that he is still designing his fabulous Stam handbag, that way those of us who bought a Stam last season are still up to date fashion/ trend wise. I'm loving the black Stam with resin strap.

This Marc Jacobs handbag has me scratching my head. It's such a bright and obnoxious pattern, I can't see it matching much of anything. It's too big for an evening bag and it's a messenger style flap bag that is seriously inconvenient for daily use. It could work for an overnight bag, but it's not quite big enough. Somehow I don't think this will be his best seller. $1,782 at Louisaviaroma.com.

Marc Jacobs is pure genius when it comes to designer handbags. He is able to make old, classic styles fresh and terribly chic. With the Monogram Double Jeu handbags he re-interpreted the classic Noe and Alma bags in unbelievably fabulous designs.

Monogram Double Jeu (Double Game), comprises of a Neo Noé and a Neo Alma. I'm assuming the 'double' is in reference to the bag-in-a-bag. The inner bag has the chain handles and is detachable. The fabric of the inner bag has an Epi - like weave and it sports a brass "Inventeur" plaque so it can be carried as it's own separate bag, if desired. The outer bags, the actual Noé and Alma, have the leather straps. They are slated to be released sometime in September, the Neo Noé is estimated to be $4040 while the Neo Alma is at $4500.

These are runway collection bags, that's why they are so expensive, and therefore exclusive. The Noe Alma (black bag) has my name written all over it. There's just that pesky problem of price.

I love the opulence of these Valentino stone encrusted handbags. These bags are reflective of much of the Fall 2009 handbag collections that are all about glamour and decadence, a wonderful optimism that we can appreciate.

These aren't traditional everyday bags, but the tote, Valentino Kaleido Tote $2,995, would be a great carry all for someone that likes a sparkly bag. Personally, I would use it as an everyday bag and the frame bag, Valentino Gemme Frame $2,980, would be for evening use...that is if I had a disposable income and could drop 6k on a couple of handbags. Net a Porter has FINALLY gotten the Fall 2009 handbags, but currently we are only getting a sneak peek. They haven't put them up on the site for sale yet. Honestly I don't know what's taking them so long, all the other stores have them out for sale. Anyway, of this little sample we have the Christian Louboutin Loubistuds clutch, and next to it is the Chloe Python Paraty handbag. The pink leopard print clutch is Jimmy Choo, and next to that is Alexander McQueens knuckle duster clutch. In the top left corner is Marc Jacobs, and underneath is Bottega Veneta. It looks like they will have a pretty good selection.
