Prada's upcoming 2009 Spring Handbag collection is sooo much better than the current Fall 2008 crop. They still have excess material on the sides of the bags, but instead of the excess being the same material as the entire handbag, it's contrasted and looks much better. I'm also happy to note Prada retired all that lace for the upcoming collection. Lace is nice, but not in the overload of Fall 2008. This season debuts beautiful snakeskins and soft leather, in both the handbag and shoe collections. The look is luxurious and feminine.

Shimmering sequins have a shiny, fluid effect on this elegant hand-held Prada bag. The green bleeding into grey is unconventional, but it works so well with this bag. The gold Prada logo goes beautifully with these colors. The interior satin lining continues the color theme in the same green as on the outside of the bag. This clutch is pretty big for a hand held and can be used for more occasions. I like this bag so much if I had one, it wouldn't be relegated to the evening only. The hell with the 'rules'.

Who would have thought Prada would have such an inexpensive and cute clutch. This bag is only $310 and comes in three colors. It's one of their signature nylon bags with leather trim. This bag perfect for a night out with cocktails. No worries about spills, because you can just wipe it off. This little clutch has a strap, which is another plus. Lots of the clutches this season have no strap, which is annoying, because I need my hands and arms unencumbered.

This little bag is a good example of thee luxury goods market making some changes to retrieve it's dwindling market. Just yesterday on the news, I heard that the luxury goods stores like Neimans, Nordstrom and Saks are projecting record losses in the upcoming Holiday season. Sad! But maybe some of of favorite handbags will go on sale.

This is one of the better looking Prada handbags that is currently available. After the lace overload, this simple woven leather is quite refreshing. This Prada handbag is the Vitello Mordore'a Shoulder bag, and it is hand pleated and hand stitched calfskin leather. I love the slightly shimmery cocoa color of the bag, and this shape is perfect for me. I like a bigger handbag that I can wear over my shoulder and keep my hands free. Prada often goes for a unisex look, but I'm happy to see a very beautiful and classic design in this Vitello Mordoe'a. Available at Saks, $2,795.

This Prada Pizzo S Satchel does nothing for me. The lace is waaaay over the top. The handbag is classified as "punk", which I just don't get. It looks more "ladies who lunch" with the lace, even if the lace is overdone. Prada has some fantastic bags this fall, but this just isn't one of them. If the bag had less lace, it would be absolutely fabulous. The black lace overlay is gorgeous and evidence of true artistry, but why the excess? Excess = punk??

I don't get this bag. It looks like the top of a prom dress. It's Prada Fall 2008. The material is nylon and Prada wants $895 for it. From labor to materials it probably cost $20 to make. Not fabulous.
