Stella McCartney Falabella Tote

untitled

Initially I was indifferent to the Stella McCartney “Falabella” bags, as they, like all of her designs, are made with faux, man-made materials, which would be fine if she didn’t charge premium prices for such cheap materials. However the designs started to grow on me with this Spring 2012 collection in the brighter faux snakeskin prints. I have always liked the chain lined look, and on this bag the gold metal with the yellow color looks beautiful. I still think it’s overpriced, but the bags are well made and can withstand the use of a leather bag, so I’ll give it a pass.

Yellow and black snake print tote with gold-toned chain handles and trim, this designer handbag is a beautiful Spring accessory. It can be worn as a tote with the shoulder straps or folded over as a large clutch. It has black lacing around the edges and faux black patent trim. There is a gold-toned signature logo charm on the handle. It has a magnetic top closure, and inside is black signature logo lining with one back wall zip pocket. $1,165 Stella McCartney bags are here.

Stella McCartney East West Tote

Stella-McCartney-East-West-Shopping Tote

While I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a fan of Stella McCartney handbags, I like this one. I do often wonder why she demands top dollar for her goods when all of her materials are synthetic. I get she’s against animal cruelty, a vegan, blah, blah, but designers use leather because it’s durable and lasts forever, also it can be polished to look brand new. While I like the way this bag looks, I have to wonder how a textile bag will hold up with daily wear.

This designer handbag is a dark gray tote encrusted with silver toned studs and silver toned chain detailing at the sides. It has silver toned double top handles, magnetic snap closure, and signature logo textile lining with one back wall zippered pocket and one back wall slot pocket. $1,487 Available here.

Stella McCartney Falabella Chain Bag

Stella-McCartney-Chain-Bag

This Stella McCartney handbag is very popular this season, as it has sold out at various stores already. I’ve never been a huge fan of Stella’s accessories since she never uses animal skin like leather or python, but she is an avid animal rights advocate, and at least she stands by her convictions. But if I’m spending the big bucks on a bag I prefer a richer material than pleather.

This is a black python faux-leather embossed shoulder bag. It has silver toned metallic chain handles, black and silver toned metallic trimming, and a silver toned signature logo plate on the top of one side. It has a magnetic snap closure, beige signature logo lining with one front wall slot pocket and one back wall zippered pocket. $936 Available here.

Stella McCartney Recycled Hobo bag

Category: Fall 2009 | Stella McCartneyAdministrator @ 04:40

While celebrities that want to hawk their gear at ridiculous prices gets on my every nerve, Stella McCartney creates some beautiful and stylish designs. But this isn't one of them. It's made from recycled nylon. First of all I would never pay almost $800 for a recycled anything, let alone some cheap material made even cheaper in its second incarnation. I get that she's a vegan and has a "no animal" policy in her designs (rolling eyes), but why must she clutter the aisles of designer handbags with these cheap sacks. I'm pretty sure that most people who pay the big bucks for a designer handbag aren't granolas and want some sort of animal hide for their bags. $785 at Bergdorf Goodman.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Handbag collection

Category: Fall 2009 | Stella McCartneyAdministrator @ 04:02

The Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Handbag collection was boring in my opinion. First of all, there weren't many handbags in the collection, and they were only clutches. The designs themselves were quite boring as well. Solid colors in leather...no exotics, no fringe, no buckles, no sequins, etc. She definitely scaled this collection down and wasn't pushing any boundaries, but such basic designs make them unrecognizable as a luxury good, and provide no incentive to pay the big bucks for something that looks exactly like a bag at a fraction of Stella's costs.
